Often seen as a dreadful list of changes in the body, menopause can become manageable as per Yogic and Ayurvedic wisdom. In the Indian wisdom stream, menopause is not viewed as a disease, disorder, or taboo, but rather as a stage in life with an alternative approach to empowerment through simple changes in diet, exercise, and daily routine practices. Hot flashes, difficulty in falling asleep, dryness, mood swings, low libido, weight gain, and fluid retention are some of the symptoms that become a challenge in the pre- and perimenopausal stages. Thankfully, with mindfulness around dosha, diet, and agni, Ayurveda and Yoga provide a breakthrough for conventional times through ancient practices.
