Being Intentional & Informed - An Immersion for Yoga Teachers

May 14, 2022

Details

As yoga teachers, we need to continually expand our knowledge to meet the needs of our students. We must keep our classes safe physically, as well as trauma informed, accessible, inclusive, culturally appropriate and equitable-all while being inspiring and authentic! These topics affect every part of a yoga class including, format, context/curriculum, sequencing , language, hands on assists, music and so much more.

Join The Thread Collective for a full-day live virtual immersion where we will dive into these topics through practice and conversation. Learn from inspiring, expert presenters and connect with other teachers in the community. You will leave the immersion with insight, knowledge, and tools to become a more skilled, confident and an informed yoga teacher.

Immersion Workshop with Indu Arora

Yamas and Niyamas of Cultural Appropriation in Yoga

Are you a Yoga Teacher, Yoga Therapist or a trainee who is juggling with the idea of cultural appropriation in Yoga? Do you have pressing questions that have not been answered yet? Are you confused or overwhelmed if you should even study or teach Yoga?

Don’t let fear and ignorance get the best of you. If Yoga is your calling, then let us have this much needed conversation. Educate and move forward with a renewed, even more firm determination. Learn all that is important, empowering and crucial about cultural appropriation versus appreciation. Learn in the context of 10 Yamas and Niyamas about Cultural Appropriation. It is my hope that this will serve as a clear, empowering and supportive guideline for you to live, love and share your Yoga in ways that are authentic, respectful and informed.

The workshop will also provide the participants the opportunity for Q and A. The teachings in the workshop will be based on Bhagwad Gita and Patanjali Yoga Sutras.
